Transcript - Nursing Home Abuse & Neglect
There are over one and a half-million elderly Americans currently living in nursing homes. To most corporations owning these facilities, it is nothing more than a business. This might explain why the Department of Health and Human Services uncovered that 91% of nursing homes do not have enough staff to provide necessary care. That means over a million people every year are being neglected or abused in nursing homes. According to the CDC, the main reasons for emergency room visits from nursing home patients are falls, heart conditions, and pneumonia. And the National Center for Health Statistics says 40% of these incidents are preventable. Many families struggle emotionally and financially to place their loved ones in nursing homes because they believe that is where they will receive the best care, only to find out that their loved one was neglected or abused. Bed rail deaths, chemical restraints, insurance denials, and scams plague our nursing homes. It's unacceptable to be treating our senior citizens in this manner. Our goal at Moll Law Group is to prevent nursing home neglect and abuse and to make sure nursing home facilities and their staff treat our seniors to the highest standards.
