The Class II recall applies to several different kinds of MadeGood granola bars, which have been touted as healthier allerge-free and organic snack alternatives. The affected bars were made between January-November 2024 and were distributed across the country and internationally.

Class II recalls are instituted when the recalled products can cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences. The manufacturer claims that the recall has been initiated out of an abundance of caution.

The FDA claims that an investigation found a problem in the manufacturing process of certain bars. The metal that is present has been called a “small flat brush bristle.” Seven complaints about the metal were made. There have been no injuries, but even so, customers. Have been told to return them to the store or retailer where they were bought for a full refund. The company says that it has remediated the issue. A different process has been put in place to mitigate the risk of the metal piece.

It may be appropriate to pursue damages by filing a product liability lawsuit if you were harmed by metal in a granola bar. Product liability lawsuits can be filed in connection with manufacturing, marketing, or design defects. Generally speaking, manufacturing defects are one-off flaws, problems in how a product was made that make it harmful. Design defects, meanwhile, are flaws that occur in every unit of a particular product. Marketing defects often involve a failure to warn of dangers. These lawsuits can be filed under several different theories, depending on the jurisdiction; some theories that may be appropriate to allege include negligence, strict liability, breach of contract, and breach of warranty. When our lawyers are successful in showing that a defective product caused harm such that the manufacturer should be held responsible, we may be able to recover compensatory damages on your behalf.
