Mary Ann Childers: A class-action lawsuit claims asbestos may have been present at a local Hostess plant for 25 years, contaminating workers and baked goods produced there. The lawsuit involves the Interstate Brands Plant, which is located in suburban Schiller Park. It seeks monetary compensation for consumers and workers. Asbestos is known to cause cancer when inhaled. The plant was shut down January the 26th, after the unlicensed removal of the insulation. The next day the company voluntarily recalled millions of snack cakes.
