Reporter: A Chicago law firm has filed a worldwide class action lawsuit involving a medical device that it says is connected to at least twenty-eight deaths. The Ancure device is used to create an alternative passageway for blood to travel inside weakened hearts. It was made by Endovascular Technologies and the lawsuit claims the company knew the product was defective but did nothing about it.
Ken Moll: Needless amounts of deaths and adverse reactions occurred as a result of these medical devices. They were fraudulently concealed from the public, and from the physicians.
Reporter: In a settlement with the justice department earlier in the month, Endovascular Technologies agreed to pay more than ninety million dollars and pleaded guilty to ten felony counts. Its parent corporation announced it will stop making the Ancure device.
