Zagreb/Chicago, 13 November: A Chicago-based law firm Kenneth B. Moll & Associates will on Tuesday [13 November] file a class action law suit against a US company Baxter whose dialysis filters are responsible for the deaths of 53 patients, 23 in Croatia, attorney Kenneth Moll told HINA Monday night in over the phone.
The suit will be filed on behalf of all the patients who have died or were injured using Baxter's dialysis filters in Croatia, Spain and Columbia, he said.
The dialysis filters are believed to be responsible for the deaths of 23 patients in Croatia, 11 in Spain, and others in Columbia, the United States and Taiwan.
Moll said he expected very high compensations and assessed they would amount from 2 to 5 million US dollars per case. He said the law firm had received several enquiries from Croatia and some Croatian attorneys would assist in the case.
Moll expects the suit would be resolved through a deal out of court and within a year.
