Chicago law firm Kenneth B. Moll & Associates filed a class action lawsuit Tuesday against Abbott Laboratories in an attempt to force the company to stop making a diet pill called Meridia, recall it from store shelves and collect money on behalf of 29 people who were taking the drug and died and others who claim injuries because of it. Abbott has said it stands by the safety of the drug, acquired along with Knoll Pharmaceuticals last year and used by 8.5 million people globally.
